Blog Post 24: Unit 12- Completed Research Report and Initial FMP Discussion

Within Greg’s session (14/03/19), I completed my research report, and took part in a discussion with Ollie and Chloe.

For my report, I added my experimental pieces into my findings alongside some feedback and personal reflections. I also added a bibliography and conclusive paragraph into my report.

Research Report

For the discussion, myself, Chloe and Ollie headed to the radio room and recorded an initial discussion regarding ourselves as writers, our chosen careers, FMP ideas, how we’ve developed as writers, and the skills we have gained/developed over the course of two years. The uncut, unedited audio is linked below:

Initial Discussion

Overall, this session has allowed me to begin thinking about how I am going to crossover my research with my aims/ideas for the FMP. It has allowed me to build a developed foundation for my ideas and pre-production.

  1. Outstanding work throughout this unit meeting criteria to the highest level. The structure is effective allowing the reader to see the journey you have taken from the initial hypothesis through to the discussion. The impact of the research on your existing knowledge is clear through the analysis of the methodologies, the filtering down to the significant findings. The experimentation shows many of the techniques and is supported and strengthened by the reflections. Language throughout is appropriate to the academic criteria.

All criteria met to a very high standard
You have critically described a range of contextual perspectives influencing your chosen discipline in creative media production; applied this knowledge of critical perspectives to inform your own practice through reflection and experimentation; identified a range of relevant academic and cultural sources and critically evaluated each one effectively impacting on your learning.
You have effectively communicated your report: the structure is easy to follow using headings and subheading to guide the reader with continuous, effective links to connect the findings.
The report is an effectively written extended and flowing sequence of well-made and researched points and illustrations that are coherent and comprehensive.

It also clearly points to your own further development and lays down plans to do so.

    Brilliant work

  2. Further questions that you may want to consider going forward to the FMP would be to unpack some of the answers that you received:
    Flair with writing
Q: How does a writer achieve flair with writing and what examples could you find to illustrate flair?
Entertaining the reader (Entertaining to read): How?
What techniques does a writer employ to entertain?
E.g. humour, facts, unique use of language
again seek out writers who you consider to entertain with their writing.
